ASP.Net Web Developer (Austin)

DESCRIPTION


This is an Austin, TX-based position to work in person with a subject matter expert to create a custom web application. The objective of this project is to complete a pilot version of the application; should the pilot be approved, an extension of the contract may be granted to develop additional features.





The goal of the application is to support the business processes (and then reporting requirements) of agencies that are contracted by state and local governments to provide employment services to those receving social assistance.





The application will be developed in ASP.Net and used for data capture and workflow; it will incorporate already-built components (using Microsoft Reporting Services) for reporting and analytics;





The candidate should be proficient in the .Net framework, have four years experience with ASP.Net (preferrably C#), understand how to authenticate and authorize based on Active Directory and have good knowledge of SQL Server (for table definition and T-SQL); having experience integrating Microsoft business intelligence components (Reporting Services, Analysis Services) is an asset but not required. The candidate should also understand how to interpret UML diagrams and translate into lower level designs and then into code.





The candidate will be working in an Agile-based environment, working primarily with a subject matter expert (in-person collaboration) and having occasional contact with a remote project manager. The exact location can be decided upon jointly between the candidate and the subject matter expert, as well as which tasks can be completed from home.





It is expected that the project (the pilot phase) will require 100-200 hours of development.








QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent


Minimum four years developing database-driven web applications


Experience designing business workflow applications an asset


Strong knowledge of .Net (C# an asset)


Strong knowledge of Active Directory


Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL


Experience with designing reusable, modular architectures in an internet environment


Experience reading UML diagrams
