ASP.NET SOFTWARE DEVELOPER NEEDED

This person will be the lead data architect on the development of several enhancements and new functionality.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

Summary:

Working under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, contractor will provide programming and web development resources to address a list of functional enhancements for application. This position will report directly to the CIO and work closely with other personnel in Human Resources to implement the development of new enhancements and functionality.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

These supplemental staffing resources must provide adequate ASP, ASP.NET and MS SQL development skill sets and experience. He/she will be required to perform the analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of the functional enhancements for the eLeave Request application. Functional issues and enhancement analysis, design and development requirements will be based on the functional objectives provided below.

To prepare the application for Enterprise deployment to staff community, the following functional objectives must be met during this engagement. The below objectives will further serve as some (not all) of the design considerations and critical success factors for the analysis, design/redesign and development/redevelopment of existing functionality along with any new functionality required to meet these objectives.

Functional Objectives:

· Enhance the leave-requester user experience with self-service functionality such as online history and current status of outstanding leave requests – The specific objective for this item is to significantly reduce the considerable phone call traffic to the e-Leave administrator to provide updated status and answer questions on previous leave requests.

· Enhance the leave-request approver user experience by providing targeted online functionality for Rater, Reviewer and HR Approval processes while also building an Audit Trail for HR resolution of requested leave discrepancies. Include a reminder tool for reminding Reviewers of outstanding requests.

· Change the SMTP method for directing emails via off-campus routing to an internal route. Currently, emails routed through off-campus means, causes the off-campus spam vendor to capture those emails within the spam filter disallowing those emails to reach their destination.

· Improve communication between the application and user to enhance user-experience. Better communication is required to keep the user informed of the actions of the application so transactions can complete.

· Resolve functionality between current browsers.

· Enhance the rigid security requirements currently tying the user's MAC address and Social Security Number. This approach creates considerable overhead for the e-Leave administrator to manage user enrollment, user relocations etc. (NOTE: - It is further anticipated that this security approach may cause authentication issues should equipment (MAC Address) be re-used, however this is an un-validated observation at this time that will be qualified/disqualified by a detailed code review of the current security module).

Technical Environment:

The technical environment is currently based on the Microsoft Windows Server 2000, IIS and MS Access database architectures.

All work products under this SOW is required to be compatible with the Microsoft 2004 desktop/office products or later versions e.g. Word documents, Excel Spreadsheets, Visio diagrams etc.
